Poem Overcycle- February 2017

A little garden,
Fragrant and full of roses.
The path is narrow
And a little boy walks along it.

A little boy, a sweet boy,
Like that growing blossom.
When the blossom comes to bloom,
The little boy will be no more.

--Franta Bass

I selected this poem because it's one that drew the most emotions from me and I was able to visualize the situation, and what the writer was feeling. This poem shows me how drastic it was and how fast the holocaust happened. The idea of putting time together with seasons and a season of life was very powerful. The line that had the most impact on me was “When the blossom comes to bloom, The little boy will be no more.” (Bass Poem 1) this line was especially powerful because most people put spring in a category with life and light and in this poem it is equating it with death. The fears that were put into this poem focus on the major fear of death that everyone in this time was feeling
